9/30 (game 1) vs. New York Mets - L (3-4)
Taijuan Walker got the start against Tylor Megill. The Mets scored 3 in the bottom of the 2nd on a fielder’s choice, Brett Baty single, and a wild pitch. Omar Narvaez hit a solo homer in the 2nd to make it 4-0. The Phillies first run came in the top of the 8th on an Edmundo Sosa RBI single. The Phils put two runs across in the top of the 9th on a Brandon Marsh RBI double and a Weston Wilson RBI single, but it wouldn’t be enough to tie the game.
Taijuan Walker went 7 innings with 3 strikeouts, 4 walks, and 4 earned runs on 4 hits. The Phillies had 7 hits as a team, led by JT Realmuto (2 for 3 with a walk and a run) and Weston Wilson (2 for 4 with 2 SB, a run, and an RBI).
9/30 (game 2) vs. New York Mets - L (4-11)
Michael Plassmeyer was called up from Triple-A and made the start against Jose Quintana.The Mets scored 3 in the bottom of the 2nd on a Baty RBI single and Francisco Alvarez 2-run home run. They then put up 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd on a Ronny Mauricio double and an Alvarez grand slam. The Phillies responded with 4 runs in the top of the 4th thanks to a Cristian Pache RBI single and a 3-run home run by Kyle Schwarber.
A 2-run Lindor home run in the bottom of the 4th extended the Mets’ lead to 10-4. Tim Locastro hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 5th to further extend the lead to 11-4. Plassmeyer finished with 3.2 innings, 4 strikeouts, 0 walks, and 9 earned runs on 8 hits. The Phillies had 8 hits as a team, led by Kyle Schwarber (2 for 5 with a homer, 3 RBI, and a run) and Johan Rojas (2 for 4 and a run).
10/1 vs. New York Mets - W (9-1)
Matt Strahm started the game in an opener role for Nick Nelson against Jose Butto. Bryson Stott hit an RBI single in the top of the 3rd to take a 1-0 lead. Tim Locastro hit a solo home run to tie the game in the bottom of the 3rd. Alec Bohm hit a solo homer in the top of the 6th to take a 2-1 lead. A Brandon Marsh RBI single in the top of the 8th made it 3-1. The Phillies put up 6 more runs in the top of the 9th on a Rojas triple, Stubbs single, Bohm sacrifice fly, and a 3-run Brandon Marsh home run.
Strahm opened with 1 scoreless inning and Nelson followed by going 5.1 innings, 3 strikeouts, 2 walks, and 1 earned run on 2 hits. The offense had a big day with 12 hits, led by Bryson Stott (3 for 4 with a walk, double, RBI, and a run), Alec Bohm (2 for 4 with a home run, 2 RBI, and a run), and Brandon Marsh (2 for 5 with a home run, 4 RBI, and a run).
