Intro
Starts
Josh Allen vs. Jacksonville: The Jaguars secondary is like an empty pool in Long Beach during the 1970's: shreddable. There may not be a quarterback hotter then Josh Allen right now either. Plug him into any lineup you can and enjoy the show with breakfast
Anthony Richardson vs. Tennessee: The dual-threat rookie is becoming more and reliable for fantasy purposes. Tennessee's corners are bad and their pass rush is aggressive, meaning some quick hitters and improv rushing from broken containment are on the table all afternoon
Breece Hall @ Denver: How do you help a young quarterback win on the road? With an effective and balanced running game. The Broncos currently boast the worst rush D in the league, by a pretty healthy margin at that (19 YPG more than 31st). Breece is off the pitch count and looks explosive. Big day ahead in the Mile High
Devon Achane/Raheem Mostert vs. New York Giants: The Giants' defense isn't very good, particularly against the run. Assuming this game goes according to script, the 'Fins are going to get up early and ride their backs out. Both Achane and Mostert should get respectable workloads
Michael Pittman Jr. vs. Tennessee: Michael Pittman Jr. only caught one pass for 15 yards last week against the Rams. I just don't think he's going to get shut down like that again, not versus these poor cornerbacks. Look for a good bit of volume to MPJ with a trip to the end zone
Allen Lazard @ Denver: Allen Lazard modestly emerged during Zach Wilson's big Sunday night game, posting a 3/61/1 line. Assuming Patrick Surtain II sticks with Garrett Wilson much of the evening, Lazard should have some opportune matchups. Probably not a top ten guy, but should be cheap with a decent floor
Tyler Higbee vs. Philadelphia: Cooper Kupp is back, all eyes on him right? Perfect, Philly has been exploited by the tight end position through the first four games and will have their hands full on the perimeter. Look for Higbee to rack up at least six catches
Hayden Hurst @ Detroit: The Lions are going to get after Bryce Young, trusting their corners against a subpar group of receivers outside. The rookie QB will need to get rid of it quickly, likely targeting Hayden Hurst early and often to save himself the some big hits
Sits
Trevor Lawrence vs. Buffalo: Lost in all the hubbub surrounding the Bills is the fact that their defense is allowing under 14 points per contest right now. It remains to be seen just how big of an impact this Tre'Davious White injury is going to have on the group, but they matchup perfectly against the Jags. Tough day for T-Law here
Joe Burrow @ Arizona: Dude can barely walk. Tee Higgins isn't 100%, assuming he's even available. Arizona's been one of the sneakier defenses in the league and should be employing a run-heavy approach on offense to help limit Cincy's touches. Burrow to the bench
Tony Pollard @ San Francisco: San Fran doesn't give up rushing yards, so Pollard will be stifled up that avenue. He could be productive in the passing game though, making him a little bit of a wild card. But I don't like this matchup for him at all
Miles Sanders @ Detroit: Sanders' has been bad in this stagnant offense and now goes to face a Detroit team that no team's run on. Untouchable for DFS, super desperate play for redraft leagues
Michael Thomas @ New England: Chris Olave could maybe fall into this category too, but I like his chances to bounce back from a terrible game more than Thomas' here. Belichick's still pretty crafty defensively and should force the Saints to beat them unconventionally, if they can
George Pickens vs. Baltimore: Kenny Pickett doesn't instill me with confidence, neither does a date with returning star corner Marlon Humphrey. Might add a highlight to his reel but don't expect a ton more from Pickens
Hunter Henry vs. New Orleans: The Saints don't give up yards to tight ends, period. Just 82 all season. Henry has been a steady contributor at the position, but not a good weekend upcoming for him
Evan Engram vs. Buffalo: If Jacksonville hangs in this game, it'd likely be because their quarterback is connecting with his targets outside rather than Evan Engram. Buffalo's shuts down tight ends and should provide slightly easier matchups for their talented wideouts
Sleepers
Josh Dobbs vs. Cincinnati: Dobbs has certainly earned the title as startable at this point in 2023, so including him as a sleeper may be a bit insulting. But I've read some people starting him over some big names this week, such as Lamar, Richardson and Brock Purdy. If he's going to be projected in the mid-teens but play top ten ball, I'll throw him in this category
Melvin Gordon @ Pittsburgh: Despite starter Gus Edwards playing well, Gordon has managed to carve out some space in the timeshare. Don't ask me how or why. But Pittsburgh gets gashed by opposing rushers and there should be plenty of carries to go around in a game that the Ravens should be leading most of
Kalif Raymond vs. Carolina: No Amon Ra, no Jahmyr Gibbs. Maybe no Jameson Williams or Josh Reynolds either. Somebody's got to catch the ball for Detroit and Raymond has a nice history of stepping up in these spots. He's almost definitely available in your redraft leagues
Dalton Kincaid vs. Jacksonville: Stefon Diggs is going to be the driving force of the Bill's offense, but their tight ends should be able to find space too against a Jags D that'll get burned by the position. Kincaid and/or Dawson Knox should both be respectful plays
