Phillies Report: Week 23

The Phillies finish their past week of baseball with a 2-5 record over 7 games. They lost 2 of 3 to the Marlins at home and lost 3 of 4 to the Braves at home. Over the 7 games for the week, they were outscored by opponents 36-38. It is hard not to look at a 2-5 at home as a disappointment, especially when all five losses were by 3 runs or less.

The Phillies are 4-6 in their last 10 games and remain in 2nd place in the NL East with a 79-67 record. They are 17 games behind the Braves and 4 games ahead of the Marlins. They are currently alone in the first Wild Card position with a 1.5 game lead over the Cubs and a 3.5 game lead over the Reds and Diamondbacks. The Phillies will look to secure their Wild Card berth this week as they go on the road to play the St. Louis Cardinals and the Atlanta Braves.

Rhys Hoskins - The dream of the Phillies’ first baseman returning for the postseason is still a stretch, but not impossible. Rob Thomson said that if he is able to return, it wouldn’t be in time for a Wild Card series, and would instead be later in the postseason, if at all.
