The Phillies called up Christopher Sanchez to start this game and put an end to the run of the “bullpen” game every 5th game. Sanchez threw 4 innings and looked fantastic, striking out 5 and allowing just 1 hit. James Kaprielian started for the A’s and threw an effective 5.1 innings. The game would remain scoreless until the 6th inning, when Carlos Perez hit a solo home run off of Matt Strahm to put the A’s up 1-0. Bryson Stott hit an RBI single in the 6th inning to tie the game at 1.
Both bullpens were very effective as the score remained tied and went into extra innings. Marte, Soto, Alvarado, Kimbrel, and Hoffman all had scoreless outings out of the bullpen and Andrew Vasquez threw 2 innings and got the win. The Phillies took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 11th on a Stott sacrifice fly, but the A’s answered in the bottom half of the 11th with an RBI double by Carlos Perez. 6/20 vs Atlanta Braves - L (2-4)
Ranger Suarez got the start for the Phillies in a matchup against Cy Young candidate Spencer Strider and the Atlanta Braves. Both Suarez and Strider limited the scoring early on, as the first run in the game came in the 5th inning on a Nick Castellanos RBI single. Austin Riley tied the game at 1-1 on a solo home run in the 6th and the Braves went up 3-1 on an RBI single by Ronald Acuña and a fielder’s choice. Matt Olson hit a solo shot in the 8th to give the Braves an insurance run. The Phillies were able to score 1 in the 9th on a fielder's choice but it wouldn’t be enough.
Ranger Suarez pitched very well, throwing 6 innings with 7 strikeouts, 2 walks, and 1 earned run. He effectively matched the performance of Strider and gave the Phillies a chance to win the ballgame. Jeff Hoffman took the loss as he allowed 2 earned in 1.1 innings of work. Brandon Marsh had a nice day at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a double and a run.

6/22 vs. Atlanta Braves - L (1-5)
Aaron Nola took the mound against Bryce Elder in what would be a pitchers duel although the final score doesn’t make it appear that way. Aaron Nola had an excellent outing, going 6 innings with 5 strikeouts, only 2 hits, and no runs allowed. Soto, Alvarado, Kimbrel all threw 1 inning of no run baseball out of the bullpen. The game was tied 0-0 after 9 innings and went into extras. Yunior Marte pitched in the top of 10th, a frame where the Braves scored 5 runs (earned) and things fell apart for the Phillies. Kyle Schwarber misplayed a fly ball in left that wasn’t ruled an error but easily could have been. It was another game that got away from the Phillies as they lost 2 of 2 games against the Braves with Wednesday’s game being postponed.
